Celine Dion is Now Illegal in Britain

The introduction to this article was written by the Department of Redundancy Department.

Smacking children with a cane, slipper or belt will become a criminal offence, with parents facing possible jail sentences under proposals being considered by the Government.

Smacking children with a cane, slipper or belt will become a criminal offence, with parents facing possible jail sentences under proposals being considered by the Government.

A consultation document to be published by the Department of Health today will propose that the law be amended to make it illegal for parents to hit their children with any implement or punish them in a way likely to injure the head, eyes or ears.

So not only are parents not allowed to smack their children with a slipper, but forcing them to listen to Celine Dion is also illegal. I guess I’m all for that.

No word on whether extreme Islamists are able to behead their children if they convert to Christianity. Technically, it only hurts the neck right?

CTV writing Liberal Party Press Releases

March 22, 2008 Sheldon Kotyk 1 comment

CTV must have lost the governing party’s numbers.

British and French ministries aren’t commenting on a British newspaper’s report that France will send an additional 1,000 troops to Afghanistan.

Liberal defence critic Denis Coderre told CTV’s Newsnet that he believes the French troops will go to eastern Afghanistan to help the Americans.

I went through the whole Liberal Press Release and they didn’t mention even trying to contact MacKay. I guess in their view, putting “Critic:” in front of headlines means they don’t need to provide any balance.

Liberals: The Party of the Brainwashed Voter

March 16, 2008 Sheldon Kotyk 5 comments

Can someone tell me why anyone would vote to put the Liberal party in charge of our country again?

I tried to put away my conservative bias, turn off logic and common sense and I still can’t figure it out. Even if I did feel that drug dealers, murderers and terrorists deserved the same rights as their victims, I wouldn’t be voting for Dion, Rae or Justin. I’d be voting for Jack! and the NDP.

Why? It’s quite simple. Even though their policies would flush the country down the toilet, at least they have policies. The Liberals change their votes (if they even show up) based on the latest polls.

If it wasn’t for the constant free pro-Liberal party advertising in the newspaper and on the television, I can’t see how anyone on the left would vote Liberal over the NDP.

The Liberals are the party of the brainwashed voter.

Keep RESP Tax Shelter. Drop HRC Funding.

We can navel gaze about what this bill will cost today,” Mr. McTeague said in an interview. “The lost revenue would be gained down the road when kids get higher paying jobs.”

I agree. Which is why I also propose dropping the GST to five percent. Oh wait, already done. What did Dion say about that again?

“We are the party of compassion, the party of Kelowna for aboriginals, the party that wants to put the fight against poverty at the core of agenda. We want to invest in Canadians and families, seniors, in regions, and there is no good balance in this declaration of the minister of finance about investing in Canadians and tax cuts.”

Wait a second, won’t more money being saved by families to invest in RESPs for their children… Never mind.

Chop the gun registry or the HRC funding and keep this tax break.

The NY Times endorses Democrat for Republican Primary.

January 25, 2008 Sheldon Kotyk 5 comments

We have strong disagreements with all the Republicans running for president. The leading candidates have no plan for getting American troops out of Iraq. They are too wedded to discredited economic theories and unwilling even now to break with the legacy of President Bush. We disagree with them strongly on what makes a good Supreme Court justice.

Maybe that’s because you are Democrats?

Still, there is a choice to be made, and it is an easy one. Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe. With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field.

You mean, he’s the only Republican that keeps falling over to the left.

I’m not a big fan of the Republican options this year, now that Fred! has withdrawn but honestly, why does the NYT even bother?

In 2006, however, Mr. McCain stood up for the humane treatment of prisoners and for a ban on torture. We said then that he was being conned by Mr. Bush, who had no intention of following the rules. But Mr. McCain took a stand, just as he did in recognizing the threat of global warming early. He has been a staunch advocate of campaign finance reform, working with Senator Russ Feingold, among the most liberal of Democrats, on groundbreaking legislation, just as he worked with Senator Edward Kennedy on immigration reform.

Did he actually stand for smaller government, less taxes, etc? What actually makes him a Republican?

Even their advertising on this opinion was paid for by the DNC.

In Defence of Free Thought

Those of us who know that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms has been used to take the country down the wrong, destructive, direction also have been concerned as to how the Human Rights Tribunals/Commissions have been punishing people when no laws were broken.

Ezra Levant is now taking on the Alberta “Human Rights” Commission and I want to come out and say I support what he is doing.

If you want to live in a country where you are free to think without a lawsuit, you need to pay attention to what is going on in Canada’s Kangaroo Courts.

Our rights are being defended.

Palestinian Thinks Jews are Good People

It’s not something you’d find on the pages of the Star or headlining The National but its worth a headline here.

I almost thought better of it, but I had to ask: “Have you ever been to Israel, Tom?

“Yes! he said, beaming. “It is my country. It is beautiful. I have family there. The first time I went to Israel, after the 1967 war, I was afraid the Jews might eat my flesh. But they were so nice to me in Haifa. They welcomed me into their homes even though I am Palestinian. We hated them, you know, after all that had happened. But I was welcome as a Palestinian. The Jews are good people. Like you.

Of course, saying something like that is going to make him a target.

Tom is a 60 year old Palestinian who lives in Jordan, and his real name isn’t Tom. He, like all the other interpreters I’ve met in Iraq, goes by an American name to conceal his identity. There is a chance he could be hunted down by terrorists and murdered in Jordan if he could be traced.

October 29, 2007 Sheldon Kotyk 5 comments

2. you americans only got what you deserved : you guys are the worst animals of the world, the first polluters the responsible for the environmental collapse of our world by striking mother earth with your “standarts of living”. Well mother Earth warns you with these fires : change your behaviour, respect our planet and the other peoples of the world otherwise you will feel the Earth wrath. But I doubt you guys will change your way of living, you love too much your gas guzzling SUVs and are too selfish to change

From the comments on this article at the LA Times.

Key point from the articles.

Investigators have said that at least two of the huge wildfires, one in Orange County and the other in Temecula, were the work of arsonists.

and

Amid worries of new blazes adding to the firestorm already afflicting the region, a man in Hesperia has been arrested on suspicion of arson, and police reported shooting and killing another arson suspect after chasing him out of scrub behind Cal State San Bernardino.

This one is interesting too. I guess Mother Nature outsources its arsoning.

The woman called police, and Highway Patrol and sheriff’s deputies were soon looking for the suspect, who witnesses said took off on a Honda motorcycle, wearing a red-and-white-striped helmet.
